MT4 & MT5 statement analysis
The MetaTrader report lists trades. We turn it into answers: how risky the account is, how consistent, and which symbols and hours carry the result.

What the MetaTrader report does not show
The built-in MT4 detailed report gives totals and a few ratios, but it mixes deposits with profit, has no monthly table, no equity drawdown in percent and no breakdown by time of day. MT5 reports are richer but still hard to compare across accounts. Strategy X-Ray reads both formats and produces the same set of metrics for every account, so you can compare a manual trader, an EA and a signal side by side.
Reading the key numbers
- Maximum drawdown — the deepest fall from a peak. Compare it with the gain: return without drawdown context means little.
- Profit factor — gross profit divided by gross loss. Above 1.3 over hundreds of trades is solid; very high values on few trades are usually luck.
- Expectancy — average result per trade in money. Multiply by your trade frequency to see the realistic income.
- Win rate by direction — a big gap between longs and shorts often reveals a trend bias.
- Results by hour — shows the session the strategy actually trades, which is the first clue to how it works.

Profit factor and expectancy, visually
Profit factor and expectancy answer two different questions. Profit factor tells you how efficient the strategy is; expectancy tells you how much it earns per trade, which together with trade frequency gives a realistic monthly figure.
When does the strategy make money?
Breakdowns by hour, weekday and symbol are where statements become explanations. A concentration of profit around one session, one pair or one day of the week is a strong hint about the logic behind the trades — and the starting point for our strategy reconstruction.

Questions
Does it work with MT5 netting and hedging accounts?
Yes. Positions are rebuilt from deals for MT5, so partial closes and both account modes are handled.
What about deposits and withdrawals?
They are detected and excluded from trading performance, so the gain is not inflated by money you added.
Are server times converted?
Statistics by hour use the broker server time shown in the statement; strategy reconstruction detects the server time zone automatically.
Can I keep the report updated?
Connect the account with its investor password and it is synchronized every 6 hours.
